Seasons of Life

Welcome to your online worship for our celebration of All Saints for Sunday, October 30, 2022.

At church this morning we will be including a short service of “Remembrance with Thanksgiving” for the lives of all who have died in the last year. Family members of those who died and other members of the church will be participating by lighting candles in the memorial of those we love, but see no longer.

Next Sunday, St. Mark’s will be marking Remembrance Sunday.

Our theme of Gratitude for this month of October at St. Mark’s concludes this Sunday. Thank you to those in the parish who have filled out and shared their “I am Grateful For…” cards. I pray that your virtue of Gratitude grew for you over the course of the month. Thank you to Debbie Belowitz, our Parish Nurse, for guiding us through this month’s theme.

A thank you to Ryan Van Dijk for his wonderful music which accompanies this weeks video, and for his music ministry at St. Mark’s as our Music Director. Read more about him here.

And lastly, a reminder that if you are at all uncomfortable being in-person for worship, or if you are not feeling well, please join us here online.

Today’s Opening Sentence

“They are before the throne of God, and he who sits upon the throne will shelter them with his presence.“ - Revelation 7:15

Today’s Reading – Luke 6:20-31

Then he looked up at his disciples and said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. “Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled. “Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. “Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, for surely your reward is great in heaven; for that is what their ancestors did to the prophets. “But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation. “Woe to you who are full now, for you will be hungry. “Woe to you who are laughing now, for you will mourn and weep. “Woe to you when all speak well of you, for that is what their ancestors did to the false prophets.
“But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again. Do to others as you would have them do to you.1
