God Has Mercy For All

Welcome to your online worship for Sunday, October 23, 2022.

Our theme of Gratitude, continues for a third week in the month of October at St. Mark’s. Thank you to those in the parish who have filled out their “I am Grateful For…” cards and placed them in the Gratitude Jar. I am grateful for all of you!

A thank you to Ryan Van Dijk for his wonderful music which accompanies this weeks video, and for his music ministry at St. Mark’s as our Music Director. Read more about him here.

And lastly, a reminder that if you are at all uncomfortable being in-person for worship, or if you are not feeling well, please join us here online.

Today’s Opening Sentence

“God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, and he has entrusted us with the message of reconciliation.” - 2 Corinthians 5:19

Today’s Reading – Luke 18:9-14

Jesus also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and regarded others with contempt: “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, was praying thus, ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people: thieves, rogues, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give a tenth of all my income.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even look up to heaven, but was beating his breast and saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his home justified rather than the other; for all who exalt themselves will be humbled, but all who humble themselves will be exalted.”1
