Our Greeters Ministry Helps Build Community

By Rick or Judy Newson

There was a Greeter Meeting on May 11 for Greeters from both services and those who Greet occasionally. This event was well attended with 28 people.  Also present were 3 wardens and 2 members of the Generosity Committee.  After encouraging everyone to mix and mingle and sit with someone that they may not know well, we started off with some great desserts and coffee.

Everyone was given the opportunity to say a few words about themselves, including other roles they may have within the church.

Rev Rob to talked about his background and his thoughts for the church.  It was very enjoyable and informative.  We all seem to have common goals of building stronger relationships and community within the church.

Debbie Belowitz did a great talk about emergency procedures and Rick reviewed greeter duties. He reviewed how and when to complete and Incident Report.  The binder containing all this information is at the back of the church with the nametags.

Neil Dunning and Rick conducted a building tour and showed everyone how the door is locked, where alarms, light and fan switches are located, and how to use fire extinguishers. They reviewed the hearing assist rechargers, and the location of the safe, the AED, First Aid Kits and the alarm in the Handicap bathroom.

Greeters have a very important role in the church.  If anyone is interested in helping on a regular or occasional basis, please contact us through the parish office.
