The Good Fruits from the Music ministry in Amazonia

In April 2019, Archdeacon Tim Dobbin went down to the diocese of Amazonia (Belem) as a representative of the Diocese of Huron to sign the covenant between there diocese and ours. During his visit, Archdeacon Tim went to 3 sites which were to be projects.

One project visited was the parish of “Our Lord of Annunciation.” It was to be completely rebuilt and the parish were hoping to start a music project to support local at-risk and marginalized youth. The parish’s minister The Rev Elias de Sousa Barata planned to set up a music ministry for youth that would include guitar lessons, vocal accompaniment, and other musical opportunities as available.

Upon Archdeacon Tim’s return, St. Mark’s agreed to help support the project took it on. In December 2020, St. Mark’s sent the funds to support the start of this ministry. Due to Covid and restrictions, it took a little while to get it  off the ground, but it is now bearing good fruit!

They have shared us this wonderful video of their ministry at work making beautiful music together.
